dor·mouse [dawr-mous] –noun, plural -mice [-mahys]
any small, furry-tailed, Old world rodent of the family Gliridae, resembling small squirrels in appearance and habits.
Origin: 1400–50; late Middle English dormowse, dormoise; etymology obscure; perhaps AF derivative of Old French dormir: to sleep (see dormant), with final syllable reanalyzed as mouse, but no such AF word is known ;D

Hi again I haven't been working on the novel recently (well next to nothing) I've seem to have hit another one of my inFamous creative blocks. Any ideas

I hit creative blocks myself from time to time. My tips are:
- Ask other people what they think (which you have - well done!)
- Re-read what you've got already
- Make a mini-plan of the next part. What are your characters' destinies? Where are they going and what are they doing? Often, it doesn't matter too much if you've planned in detail but if you know ultimately where you want the story to go or how it will end then that helps.
- Read other texts of the same style or genre. This will give you an idea of what kind of narrative the genre traditionally follows (even though you, of course, are an original!)
Hope all of that helps...let me know how you get on!
Miss D ;D

wow I can't remember the last time we had a reading period but I guess it is better than having to do more work at home.

Hi Robbie! Basically, you don't get reading periods in S3 - there's far too much to do in class. That doesn't mean, though, that we don't expect you to be reading, it's just that you do it at home in your free time. Reading really is beneficial; it boosts your general knowledge, technical accuracy (mainly spelling) and helps when it comes to close reading. I know most of you lot are enthusiastic readers anyway, though
