The man in denim
Denim-dressed looked nasty-hard long black hair fidgety drinker a board pitted face hard face cheeky “you had a pint right enough but ah felt like it so ah drank it” Thief “he stole the big man’s drink”
I think Mcllvanney made this guy out to be a men who liked to stat fights and he made us fell like the man deserved what he got .

Man in denim. At the bar
Man in denim, denim dressed, long black hair, fidgety drinker, looked nasty_hard, broad pitted face, one of those who keep looking over there shoulders as if they knew somebody must be trying to take a liberty, hard faced, cheeky and thief
I think mclivanney want to make us awair that the man in denim is someone looking for a fight as know one would steel somones pint and not expext to get beat up for the theft. Also I thinK the man in denim deserved what was done to him.

"Ill fitted suit" "it was too big for him" "he could have come back to it after a long illness" The charcoal gray cloth sat on him loosely" "seemed uncertain" "like a small boy in a sweety-shop"

rafferty: ill fitting suit, suit was slightly out of fashion yet looked quite new and it was to big for him, his face looked as it had just come off a whetstone, the cheek bones were sharp, the mouth was tout, the eyes were preoccupied with there own thoughts. He wants us to feel that rafferty is a very intimidating and hard character. We know this because of the descriptive words he uses.
