As we all venture into the heretofore unexplored world of the English Standard Grade prelim, a few last minute pieces of advice:
* Read Close Reading questions carefully, ensuring you are ABSOLUTELY sure what the question is asking you to do. Highlight or underline key parts of the questions if need be.
* An expression is only a few words long - not normally a whole sentence.
* If the question says 2-1-0, your answer should have two parts.
* Compare = look at the similarities (REMEMBER: 'PAIR'), contrast = look at the differences.
* Revise different types of imagery and sentence structure.
* Never choose questions which ask you to write an article, or 'give your views' in the writing paper.
* ONLY CHOOSE ONE QUESTION IN WRITING.
* Remember to use plenty of descriptive words and imagery to set the scene and describe character in creative writing.
* Reflect on the experience you had in personal writing.
* Take a couple of minutes at the end to make sure you've paragraphed your work properly.
GOOD LUCK!!
Miss Davidson ;D

Also, if there are any revision questions that occur, post them here. I'll be checking as often as possible.

Hi Miss Davidson, Is imagery part of sentance structure or is it a question of it's own? Is it its or it's? Thanks Catherine

Hi Catherine!
Imagery is to do with the writer's style and their use of techniques. Sentence structure is separate; this means lists, repetition, long sentences, short/minor sentences, use of punctuation and things like parenthesis.
Also, it's = it is its = belonging to it
Hope that helps!
