Could you look over my basic introductions and see if they are any good? I figure if I go in with a basic intro then I can quickly get it down and then change to fit the question, hence the *line to do with question* as that is where i would include the question from the exam.
Introductions.
“The Great Gatsby”, by f. Scott Fitzgerald is a novel set in the 1920’s jazz age in which the main character, Gatsby, is portrayed by the novels narrator, Nick Carraway, as a man who has the flaw of ambition. From Nick’s perspective we see how Gatsby’s dreams are affected by social class divide, ambition and the American Dream. We are shown through symbolism the extremities that Gatsby’s dreams exceed.
*line to do with the question*
“The Crucible”, by Arthur Miller is a play set in Salem, Massachusetts during the 1692 witch trials. The play shows the after effects caused by an affair between John Proctor and Abigail Williams and we witness his desperation in trying to redeem himself throughout the play. Within the play the theme of hysteria is clearly shown during the events that take place.

“Valentine”, by Carol Ann Duffy is a free verse which clearly shows the narrators feelings towards showing love traditionally. Within the one line stanza in the centre of the poem it portrays the poets theme: the reality of love. Duffy shows her opinion by resembling love to an onion through extended metaphors, imagery and word choice.
