You should want a characterisation essay that looks at the character of Romeo throughout the play. A good one to plan is on a character who you change your opinion about at key points in the play and the reasons why your opinion changes. Or a character who is both vulnerable but heroic and the things that make them vulnerable and the things that make them heroic.
