The one thing I had wanted to do from a young age, was play guitar in a band. But when I was told that the chances of me even being able to play a guitar fluently were slim, my ambitions changed. Now all I wanted to do was prove that I could be a musician and that nothing would stop me, not even a medical condition.
When o was around 7 or 8 I was taking by my mum to go see a specialist doctor, I had been going to these kind of doctors for a few months now and it didn’t bother me anymore. This time however, was different. I was in a completely different place with different people. The doctor said to me that she wasnted to do a “quick test”, it lasted 3 hours. After it was over I was still confused on what it all ment, but soon after she sat down and told my mum that I was dyspraxic. This is condition that effects your mottr skills and hand eye coordination, which explaind a lot, like the why my writing was so bad, or that I found if extreamly hard to do jig-saw puzzles or the embarosing fact that I couldn’t tie my shoes laces. Because I was still young I didn’t really know what it ment but to be told that I had a special condition made me feel awful, I felt like a freak because I couldn’t do a lot of the things that other people in my class could do.
I continued to go to the doctor afte I was told I had dyspraxia, there we did several excersises and games to improve my motor skills, one of the exsercises was bop-it, I loved it. However, after about to months of exercises and traning there were little improvments and again I was devastated, I just couldn’t understand why I couldn’t do certan things, the shoe lace part was the worst, I lived with this constant imbarisment of not being able to tie my own shoes. My mum bought me school shoes which had Velcro on them, but that only made me feel worse, no one else had Velcro shoes.
