Notes: Give very detailed, specific examples from individual scenes/incidents in the film to show how the institutions affected the final product e.g. Robert Evans (institution) wanted more violence so organised a violence coach. To keep him happy, Francis Ford Coppola included the scene where Sonny beats Connie with a belt.
Representations • Explain representations, including stereotypes and how language creates them • Link to cultural assumptions of the audience • Link to purpose

Notes: ALWAYS separate the target audience into groups and say WHAT IS IN THE FILM that appeals to them (detailed examples). Which elements appeal to: women Men The mafia Italian Americans Americans with traditional values What would these people NOT enjoy i.e. differentially decode?
