Today's quote is from "The Crucible" and is one from Act 3 that isn't often seen in your essays. Use it!
"I have made a bell of my honour! I have rung the doom of my good name""
John cries this in anguish in court after confessing to lechery with Abigail Williams in a bid to save Elizabeth's life. He is becoming increasingly distraught at the court's unwillingness to discredit Abigail's lies. His words here refer to the extreme public sacrifice he has made. Just as a bell would ring very loudly, this emphasises the fact that all of Salem has heard him confess his sins and, as a result, lose the good name that he so treasured in Acts 1 and 2. This act of John's shows him beginning to redeem his integrity: he cannot stand by and hide the truth when innocent people are dying due to the girls' lies. It is an act of great bravery and goodness.

Hi Robbie Gatsby, what Gatsby? I have no Gatsby essays! You have both essays that you wrote back, unless you filed them in your cardboard folder with NABs by mistake? Ms L
