Hi folks It was great to see most of you the other night and us teachers felt a wee bit choked up at the reciting of quotes and the applause at the end of Gatsby! You've done us proud! I hope you're all ok and not in too much of a state. You've worked hard and you deserve to be rewarded with great results in August. Try to have something in your day to look forward to tomorrow ( perhaps a trip to Krispy Kreme!) and get a decent night's sleep. We will see you bright and early on Monday morning. Any final questions - I will check the board frequently tomorrow so post them up. Ms l

Hi miss, for the critical essays I have found that there is a lot to write about for gatsby : theme(failure) , the setting or a confrontation between two characters however I am struggling a bit to find the same for crucible, what else can you write about in crucible , I have found that I write about : integrity ( the theme) and John proctors character but what else is there?

Hi Miss. Is there a certain structure and easier way to answer evaluation questions? I just find myself writing too much that isn't needed! I know that 'passage 1 states that: and passage 2 states that:' is a good method but is there anything else? Thanks

Hi Dan Re The Crucible you could also write about: act 3 as a scene of high tension or a turning point. If you were doing this you would have a short paragraph on either side showing the lead up to act 3 then its consequences but save most of your writing for act 3. Act 4 as a scene of great emotion or a climactic scene. Again you would focus most of your writing on act 4. John and Elizabeth's changing relationship in the play and how this connects to theme and character - relationship is obviously crucial in enabling John to forgive himself and make the final courageous decision to hang. You should have mini essay plans for all of the above. I think I put them on the board too. I gave them out during the last week. Any more questions just ask! Ms L

Hi Andy If you focus in on a few key ideas that might help cut down your answer. If you can identify 3 areas of agreement and/or disagreement then use the "passage 1 states that...." formula that might help. Also think about the quotes you use to support your points. Keep them brief, choose really strong ones. Any more questions post away! Ms L
