Cinderella
Dear Diary,
This day has gone full circle, I now own an extremely uncomfortable glass slipper and can say that I have danced with a prince but I’ll tell you about it all in a moment.
It all started when I was cleaning the disgusting floors of my ugly and evil stepmother’s kitchen gathering calluses on the palms on my delicate hands and bruises on my knees from the cold stone floor beneath me. My back was killing me and then when I didn't think it could get any worse my terribly annoying stepsisters arrive to “see I was doing it right”. They started bragging that “they” were invited to the prince’s ball and that I wasn't allowed to go because I was a “dirty working girl”. Next thing I knew they had kicked over my bucket and soaked me in the dirty water. The thing that really gets me is that those silly little brats that are my stepsisters won’t get in trouble because that old hag is blinded by her love for them. The thing is though; I had no clue what was about to happen to me.
As I was cleaning up the mess I noticed a tiny white light becoming bigger and brighter in the corner of the room beside the old cupboard. I dropped my mop and stared in amazement at what looked like a women with angel wings appearing through the shining sphere. She told me that she was my “fairy god mother”. The thing is, I didn't even know if I had a real god mother never mind one which was mysteriously magical. The best part is that she told me I could go to the ball! I told her how that could never happen because I was all dirty and had no way of getting to the palace. So, she just waved her wand and I transformed from this dirty working girl into a princess. My dress was amazing and the slippers…they were alright I guess but I wasn't complaining. I followed her out into the courtyard where there sat a horse and carriage waiting for me. She flicked her wrist and with a little wave of her wand the horses started trotting along towards the palace.
There was one catch though, at midnight I would transform back to my old rags which doesn't sound good when you’re at a ball but that was the deal so I had to cooperate. I arrived at the ball and was accompanied into the main courtyard by the sound of pipers playing in exact time. I walked into the palace trying to stay calm and collected but that definitely went out the window when everyone stopped to look at me arriving down the steps of the great hall. “Why is she here” I heard my stepsister mutter to the other more ugly stepsister. All of a sudden the crowd parted and through the narrow corridor between the crowds a tall handsome man walked forward. It was the prince. I would have never been able to predict what happened next…he asked me to dance!
Minutes turned to hours and eventually the clock turned five minutes to twelve. My time was up. I panicked. I told the prince I had to go and ran up the stairs away from the ball but didn’t I have to be the clumsy girl whose shoe fell off while running up the stairs. I couldn't let the prince see me in my working clothes and messy hair I had to run with one shoe on! I jumped into my horse and carriage and rode back home. As I arrived back at my house my dress disappeared and the carriage vanished in the blink of an eye. I fell to the ground with a thud. My night was certainly over.
So, as I sit here writing I’m thinking of the prince. I can’t stop reflecting on my amazing night which has me wondering if he will ever come to find me or even remember me at that. I guess I’ll have to wait and see but I have no clue how he will ever find me. All he really has to go by is a glass slipper. Who knows what might happen? It would be a dream come true if I married the prince. It would be my perfect fairytale ending.
