6th April
Before work had even started this morning, I had to sedate Dopey as he had taken Grumpy’s anti-depressants. When we left for the mines, Dopey was still sleeping and would stay like that until about noon.
Bashful and I were on a lunch break discussing his anxiety problems, when, all of a sudden, the cave walls began to shake and a cloud of dust and rubble fell from the roof. I dropped my lunch and ran out after everyone else. Sneezy was the last out, carrying our yellow mining canary. I handed him my handkerchief, and asked “Did you take your allergen tablets this morning Sneezy?” He shook his head no as he placed Tweetie in his cage. After the cave-in we walked back, not having found anything today.
7th April
We spent today clearing out the mess from the cave-in and, Dopey, having recovered from his taste of Grumpy’s medicine, found two diamonds and some rubies. Again.
10th April
Today wasn’t that productive because of how sunny it was, and inside the cave it was stuffier than usual. I remembered at about lunchtime that I had baked seven blueberry pies, “When we get home there’s a blueberry pie for each of you for dinner.” After that, everyone began to work faster and we finished on time, with a few bags full of gems.
When we were about a mile off, I thought I could see smoke coming from our chimney, and I began to worry that I had forgotten to put out the fire. I could see that my blueberry pies were still on the windowsill where I left them, but the garden was weed free, and something was just… Off. Dopey unlocked the door and there were no shoes and jackets left by the doorway. The floor was swept and the counters were clear of all the dirty dishes, there was clean laundry hung up in the rafters and flowers on the table.
I signalled for everyone to be quiet as I crept up the staircase and made my way towards the bedroom. The sound of someone snoring lightly drifted through the open door, and, as I entered the room, I could see a girl, lying asleep, sprawled across Grumpy and Sleepys beds. She was the prettiest girl anyone of us had ever seen, with ruby red lips, long brown hair and skin as pale as snow. We stood and watched her for a while, and I was about to suggest that we left her to sleep when she woke up. [/font]
