I'm just coming to the end of David Mitchell's (NOT from 'Peep Show') 'The Bone Clocks' -amazing. Hard to define - spans a lifetime, cast of hundreds, takes in love, loss, betrayal, power games, mainpulation, sacrifice, metaphysics and horology (look it up). Nearly a ten.
Start with 'Ghostwritten' - his first. Then 'Cloud Atlas' Then 'The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet' Then 'The Bone Clocks'
I've not read 'number9dream' or 'Black Swan Green'.

Aiming to start reading "Where She Went" by Gayle Forman, as the prequel, "If I Stay" was enjoyed thoroughly. Although with all this English work to do, one doubts one will not get round to it......

Finished Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving, literally took me about 2 months to get through it, I just hated the ending. Probably give it about 7/10.
Now im reading 'Catch- 22' by Joseph Heller. So far it's v good..

Feeling a little outdone as I don't have a book: I've got a pile of National Geographics dating back to June this year that I'm slowly working my way through, although September is proving exceptionally dull where there are no interesting topics really - no animal stories AT ALL, it's a travesty!

I'm currently reading "Seasons in the Sun-The Battle for Britain (1974-79) by Dominic Sandbrook, having finished a fabulous book called "The Gruffalo" last week. Sandbrook is a historian and I like his anecdotal style but his analyis is sometimes shoddy and I don't always agree with his conclusions!

Attempting to read 'We need to talk about Kevin' by Lionel Shriver. So far so good, but the writer's style is too formal for my liking and the lead characters apathetic attitude/tone makes the even the most dramatic of events seem very dull and uneventful. Currently waiting for the arrival of 'A Dance with Dragons' by George R.R Martin-can't wait!

Very heartened to see The Gruffalo mentioned in this thread. (Among others, obviously - some great choices!)
