Hello! 'Let's Get Lyrical' is a new campaign which focuses on song lyrics and stories arising from them. This thread is for your favourite song lyrics, and why you like them. Extra points for ones that include imagery or hidden meaning of some kind (like the one on the news fader).

Just to get us started, here's a line from 'Hurt' (the Johnny Cash version...not Nine Inch Nails!): 'I wear this crown of thorns, upon my liar's chair, Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair.' Link to video (it's a good 'un): www.youtube.com/watch?v=clq01TXQR0s

Well, since you've gone Johnny Cash, I'm going to go Nine Inch Nails Right Where It Belongs: "See the animal in his cage that you built Are you sure what side you're on? Better not look him too closely in the eye Are you sure what side of the glass you are on? See the safety of the life you have built Everything where it belongs Feel the hollowness inside of your heart And it's all... Right where it belongs" I love the way this song makes you consider whether you are any different at heart to the things you despise. The person who uploaded this to youtube has a bit of a war metaphor going on in the visuals and I like that as a way of saying that in war, how do you tell who the 'animal' is... is it them, or us...? Or both? There are two versions of this song kicking about - here's the piano one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXSkfTedVb0Here's the electric version Mr T
